Traction motor recall
It's a minor recall, there are very few affected units, in Japan only 67 were affected, it was caused due to improper assembly of the electric motor, which can cause oil leak during use due to wear and tear, and since that oil is not replaceable then the whole motor has to be replaced.
Just another good recall responsability from Nissan in my book, unlike other manufacturers that leave the trouble like it's the customer fault.

If the recall talks about the oil seal rings thing yes, new motor, since the oil can't be replaced in this motor design.
That dealer probably haven't changed never an electric motor on an Ariya and caught them off guard, heard of other experienced dealers with the procedure that have done it in 2 to 3 days.
It's quite the hassle though, the have to disassemble tires, aero undercover, high voltage coolant, drain oil from reducer, recover A/C compressor refrigerant gas, front fenders, stabilizer connecting rods, all sorts of tubes, brackets, hoses, cables, connectors, then they have to separate the front suspension from the traction motor, reduction gear and inverter as a whole unit.
Then they have to disengage that whole unit from the electric compressor, the two electric pumps and then lift that whole unit outside the car.
Then outside the car that whole unit has to be separated, they have to detach the inverter and reduction gear from the electric motor.
And then reassembling everything and reprogram the new electric motor and register it to the car control units.
