Hi, I am new to the forum. Had a leaf for 3 years, brilliant car never failed, charged fine on the Rolec wall charger and I used to set a timer so it started at 00:30 to make use of the cheaper Octopus Go tariff. Leaf went when the lease was up and I bought an Ariya (63kw base model). Nice car to drive but charging (type 2) is a different matter. It charged fine on day one and then gave up. Initially the suspicion fell on the Rolec unit and I have been waiting for Rolec to come and check the unit for the last 6 weeks - I see people complain about NIssan after sales, try Rolec!
The weird thing is this, the unit started charging again this week, but intermittently. Some days it connects and charges without a problem, other day it connects, blue light on for a few seconds and then turns to green. No charge, until I leave the car for a few minutes and then approach the car with the key in my pocket, the car lights come on as they do and then suddenly the Rolec charger clicks and hey presto charging has started.
Trying to charge with the timer set (in the car or Nissan app) is guaranteed to result in a failure to charge, so I have given up on this for now.
High speed charging works fine (but very expensive and inconvenient) and high street type 2 22kwh also works ok.
Nissan has so far not come up with an answer, neither have Rolec or the electricians that installed the Rolec unit.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is it the car or Rolec?
Thanks
Jan
New Ariya Charging Problems (type 2)
Zero issues on my Ariya with my V2C Trydan charger at home (which by the way has received more than 20 firmware updates!), on type 2 street chargers my success rate has been 95% or so and the few ones that has given me problems are a particular brand or model of charger.

Do you know someone with a a single phase wallbox you can try it on, or a similar one in Public? This is the first time I have heard of a problem with an Ariya charging so the Rolec would be where my suspicion would lie, hence the suggestion to try another one. Might be an idea to ask your local dealer if they have a single phase charge point. Plug in there whilst a technician is watching.
