I doubt this will replace the current OS in current cars such as the Ariya
Maybe an updated Ariya next year might have it

emailed nissan customer services and got a reply with a couple of useless links so no useful info...

Probably right. This comment wasn't particularly encouraging.
Buyers of the refreshed Nissan Qashqai in Europe, can now experience an even more seamless and personalized experience, through the integration of services such as Google built-in*.
Expect yet another subscription service whatever happens.

Don't expect, it's confirmed to be a subscription to use Android Automotive connected features, including map updates. First 3 or 5 years are free if I recall correctly from the press release note.
