We're approaching the end of our first year of driving a brand-new Ariya Tekna with the larger 88 kWh traction battery, for which we paid almost £55k including VAT. I've been a great fan of the car until last weekend when it broke down with an "EV System Failure" which mysteriously righted itself after about three hours whilst I was awaiting a recovery service to transport it to a Nissan service centre for examination.

It's booked in for that examination on 10 October and I realised that our Nissan Connect Services would need renewal only a few days later. A bit of research revealed that renewal is via the Nissan Connect app, which has a link to the "Nissan Store" for online renewal. You can imagine my horror to see that just renewing the charge information service costs 1.99 Euros/day, which is about £580 per year! Renewing all of the services that are free for the first year - that's Smart Alerts, Intelligent Route Planner, Battery Manager, and Remote Control Services - would cost 7.96 Euros/day, which is £2,300 for a whole year!

Guess who is trading the Ariya in for a different brand as soon as possible....?

Mine is £1.99 per month, personally I think this is ridiculous on a £55K car.

Attached is a screen grab from the app, it's a scroll-down list but I've shown the renewal prices for the Intelligent Route Planner and the Battery Manager...

Even at £1.99 a month it is an utter disgrace for a car at that price.

I can assure you that's a typo, those prices are by month for all individual services, except the "stolen car" one which is by year.
