By way of an update, we've just received an e-mail from Nissan Motor GB. I thought that finally - after over a month of complete silence! - they were replying to our complaints to them about the mysterious and unexplained breakdown in September of our Ariya, less than 12 months old with only 4,000 miles on the odometer, and the shoddy service from Nissan thereafter.
Nope, no such luck.
It was just a warning of an imminent unilateral change to the terms and conditions governing the use of the services provided through the NissanConnect app, explaining that they are about to make it an automatic renewal ad infinitum of all subscriptions (except for annual subscriptions to Stolen Vehicle Tracking) until the customer cancels it. If anyone had any doubt about Nissan's attitude to its customers, this underscores it.
No, we won't be accepting the new terms and conditions.

That’s a tough one—I’d be pretty annoyed too. I’ve had my eye on EVs for a while, and stuff like this makes me hesitate. I get that some features need a subscription, but charging that much just to manage your battery and route planning feels like a cash grab. It’s frustrating when you love the car itself, but the extras push you away. I’d be thinking about switching too, especially since other brands are offering similar features without those crazy fees. Hopefully, the service visit gives some clarity, but I don’t blame you for considering a change.
