Hi. I dived into this now and discovered that a number of essential functions expire in May 2025, one year after the delivery. 🤯🤯🤯
Scandalous!
As an example the remote control of climate and door locking.
I will tell the Swedish car magazines.
This is certainly an angle of modern automotive that need more media attention.

My question to other Swedish ariya owners, that own an older ariya, is if they have to pay for extending the functionality?

Climate control and driving history are free.

I’m with you, I haven’t paid for the extras since my car was a year old in January. Not worth the money.

I previously had three Leafs, each one had at least 3 years of connected services included - although it was so bad, they probably didn’t think they could get away with charging for it.

I'm in the won't pay camp. It's a pain, sometimes, not being able to see the SOC, particularly when stopping for a fast charge, but after 9 months, I've generally got past it now. Strangely, the live map data still works.

Just a quick update on the mysterious breakdown of our Ariya as described in the original post, which could neither be diagnosed nor fixed by the RAC whom we eventually managed to contact despite Nissan UK Assistance not being available (calls to arrange recovery on option 1 were just dropped, and the unhappy message that I left for Nissan GB on option 2 resulted, as expected, in a deafening silence)...

Our local Nissan Service Centre undertook a diagnostic examination of the car today but couldn't explain why the car broke down. They also weren't aware that the cost of renewing Nissan Connect services for a year, according to the Nissan app, is over £2,300. So, in the absence of any explanation for the breakdown or assurance that the fault won't recur, my wife now refuses to drive it, on the basis that last time our elder daughter happened to be available to drive to where we were stranded when we broke down and take her home whilst I awaited the recovery service, but will very probably not be available to do so if/when we break down again.

We will get our Ariya serviced when we've had it for a year (it presently has only just over 4,000 miles on the clock), then trade it in for a different brand... if you're thinking of buying a new Ariya, read about our experience, and think again.

The Nissan app cost is £1.99 a month.

Obviously you have had a terrible experience and Nissan have let you down and are completely entitled to complain. But they are like every other marque out there, slagged off by those who have had a bad experience. Fortunately I have to say mine has been overwhelmingly positive and whoever buys it after me, who will get it for an absolute bargain price due to the horrific depreciation, will acquire a brilliant car.

I have the Nissan Connect Services app on my phone which itself has a link (the shopping trolley icon in the top-right corner) to the "Nissan Store". That lists the relevant renewal prices as follows:

Smart Alerts €0.99/day
Intelligent Route Planner €2.99/day
Battery Manager €1.99/day
Remote Control Services €1.99/day

See the above screen shot. I appreciate that it has been suggested that all four of these are typographical errors but the Nissan Store appears to be the only way of purchasing these services and it would be madness to sign up at these rates if indeed they are actually correct. I have been using this app and previous versions [the present one is v3.2.1(579)] for a number of years - we previously had a Leaf but never needed to renew these - so I'd be surprised if no-one had ever raised the correctness of these with Nissan.

Then why I am I paying £1.99 a month? You need to query this with Nissan.

To be honest, given that we had a complete breakdown necessitating RAC attendance and no-one can explain why, in a car costing £55k that's travelled 4,000 miles and is less than a year old, we're not renewing the NissanConnect services and are actively looking at other brands.

I appreciate that lots of you might well have had no problems with your Ariyas, but we obviously bought a lemon. The fact that that Nissan can't even list accurate renewal rates in the app is just a sideshow compared with the problem of our car's unreliability.

I get it. I suspect I would feel the same. Maybe you are right, you have a lemon. The app is still crap even after 2 or 3 "updates" let alone the errors in the pricing, that should be included in a car that price. It demonstrates how unbelievably out of touch legacy Automakers are with their customers. The Chinese must be rubbing their hands together.
