There's an specific menu on the audio navigation settings where you can disable the voice directions without having to lower the master/main volume or lower the voice recognition volume, I have it like that.
Nerdy is right the built in SatNav is so bad. Route choices sometimes bizarre even dangerous at times. Estimate of remaining charge at destination wildly out, wouldn’t matter so much for short trips but on longer ones refuses to direct you straight there, instead directs you to a needless charging stop. If you go off route keeps trying to turn you round for ages even though you might have taken a shortcut. Graphics rubbish, only good point is it links in with the Head Up Display. I use Apple CarPlay much better. Doesn’t link with heads up display though. Often I set both, to do this set Apple CarPlay first, because if you set the Ariya SatNav first the Apple CarPlay takes precedence and disables it. Having both is good and if they align on your route you know next time safe to use the On-board SatNav next time.

The built-in navigation is trash. Use Google maps or Waze through Android Auto or CarPlay
And Google Maps has a mute button in the display. I believe future Nissan's/Honda will run Android natively so Google maps will be the default sat nav. Tells you all you need to know.
