Extortionate cost of renewing Nissan Connect services

Like the others posting on this subject I am horrified and disgusted to hear that I will now have to pay for Nissan Connect Services. I negotiated with four different dealers and test drove the car at 2 dealers. Not one of them mentioned that these selling points would have an expiry date. These services were also much vaunted by Nissan in their sales literature. They no doubt had very small print somewhere saying the services would expire but it should be immediately visible to prospective customers. In fact on a £50,000 car they should be provided free for the life of the car.
It looks like I will be left with less perks than I had with my Leaf at less than half the price. Not a way to treat your customers who shell out for your Flagship electric vehicle.
To me this is a HUGE misstep by Nissan, seeking to levy significant monthly charges at the risk of alienating the customer. I am sure that the cost to them of providing these services is a fraction of what they seek to charge. Quite simply I feel that I am being ripped off. I will NOT be paying them just on principle.
This is my third Nissan. I love the car but I have become sufficiently disaffected that I will look elsewhere for its replacement unless they have a change of mind on this one.
Nissan are you listening?

Well, the answer is, they are not listening! In fact, they are part of an industry that is collectively moving in that direction. I got caught out because I didn't ask. The reason for that is that our last few cars from JLR come with 3 years of all but the high cost tracker surveillance working. I naively assumed that Nissan would be the same. Wrong. After 2 and a quarter years, I have now learned to live without the App. Funnily, the only thing that I can't live without is knowing where the car is. So, I fitted a tracker. I can now, also see all my journeys, when the car starts and finishes charging and lots of other details. I will be more careful with my purchase next time!

Milkfloat, I complained that much to Nissan Connect services last month about how useless the system was in trying to connect they gave me all this year free. Not sure same will happen next year but I’ll be ready to change car then.

I have made the same complaints to them, particularly about how useless the app is and how, after several updates, it does not appear to have had any improvement whatsoever.Milkfloat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 8:13 am Well, the answer is, they are not listening! Which tracker did you go for?
Yorkie, well done. I just tired of it all and opted out. The tracker is https://www.rewiresecurity.co.uk/db2-se ... ps-tracker
I continue to be very impressed with it. That link takes you to their website but the device can be bought at lower cost from a mega online sales corporation. It logs start of a charge as "ignition on". I have been using it to see what random delay my charger adds to the programmed start time.
