I don’t fast charge often but see huge differences in charging speed, almost every time!

I’ve seen in summer the 130 kW speed holding at 100kW right up to 80%

In winter even with preheater on for ages down to 90 kW falling to 60kW at 50%. Has anyone seen 130 kW in freezing temps? Anyone know what temp the heater actually gets the battery to?

Then there’s the infamous slow repeat charge if you fast charge twice in a period (one day? 24 hrs) slows you down to 90 kW max. What triggers that is it just charge frequency or does it depend if the battery cooler comes on? And when does it reset and permit full speed again?

It’s all very confusing, anyone know how on earth the car is programmed to fast charge ?

I don't know about freezing temps but I've been able to charge at the 90kW charging curve near freezing temps without using the heater at all.

About the 90kW charging curve for repeated charging, it isn't slower that the 130kW charging curve when going from 10 to 85%, in fact it's a tiny bit faster and it puts a lot less stress on the battery, it's a great algorithm for repetitive charging within a day.

You can reset that behavior leaving the vehicle full sleep and locked for 10-15 minutes, although it doesn't make any sense to do so if you ask me, the only advantage that the 130kW charging curve has is if you're only charging the first half of the battery, which doesn't make sense on a trip with consecutive charging.

What battery pack do you have? Mine is the 91kWh one.

It’s 87kW e4orce I think 91 including the top buffer

Ok, have you tried different quick charger manufacturers/providers/power speeds?

Yes tried GRIDSERVE, Monta & InstaVolt all 150 kW or higher, despite battery heater and trying each on separate days never higher than 90 kW. I don’t think the battery heater gets the pack to optimum temp when it’s around zero outside, anyone measured the battery temp and also knows what temp it needs to be to take full power 130 kW charging?

Never have been near zero degrees to try.

It also depends on the SOC. Once you are over 50% when charging you are going to see much slower speeds. 60 kW at 50% is about right.
