12v Battery Dead (like 5volts dead) Fault Resolved
Dear all,
It looks like my Ariya has suffered the same problem (again)
First time I was home and the RAC came out and “jump started” it, then told me to go on a drive to charge up the 12v battery.
I also happened to be booked in for annual service and software updates etc. unfortunately the battery lost charge again so had to jump it myself to get it there (the RAC apparently won’t come out a second time for the same fault….)
Needless to say Wessex Nissan found no fault.
So this weekend I drove home from work, having fully charged the car and drove to Bristol and back (approx 25 miles…Then proceeded to load the car to go away for the weekend… went to start it and everything was off… again.
So swapped everything not our 175,000 mile, 10 year old discovery sport and drove away with no problem.. leaving the Nissan completely dead.. unlocked and with the boot on the first catch and unable to be opened….
The RAC refused to just recover the vehicle back to Nissan as they have to try and get the vehicle going first.. If they do that Nissan don’t get to see the fault and will then test the car and tell me nothing is wrong with it… again….
So going to wait until Monday and will then no doubt be told that they can’t recover the car and I will need to call the RAC…. And by the way we don’t have any courtesy cars, do ask the RAC, but that didn’t work last time either…. Winding myself up ready for another set of circular conversations… Get very frustrated with all this… I used to be a service manager in our own village garage… used to jump through hoops to keep the customer happy… doesn’t seem to be like that anymore… mind you they do have a good coffee machine, but that’s about all I can say….

Thank you both for your support.
Will let you know how I get on tomorrow.
To be fair to the car, I have done some big round trips to Dover and Manchester with no problems, but I need the reassurance that when I get into the car at 4 in the morning (my normal start time for long trips) that it is going to work… and likewise when charging esp late at night on the way home (sometimes decent chargers can be in some very strange places) that the car will start again…

So spoke to Wessex Nissan this morning… all started well and they were going to call me right back…
By about 3pm hadn’t heard anything and they weren’t answering the number he called on… not so good.
Ended up driving to the dealer and speaking with the Service Manager, Andy, who to be fair was fantastic.
I asked him to be part of the call I made to Nissan Assistance (RAC) and they finally agreed to recover the car as is, without trying to jump start it, tonight and I should get a courtesy car during the day tomorrow.
Many thanks to Andy, however I do think Nissan need to sharpen their act.. this has taken 3 days and a determined trip to the dealer and their helpful assistance to get this far.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Since the Battery and DC-DC Converter were replaced a couple of niggles appear to gone: random alarm going off and the tailgate not closing properly. I now believe they were linked and could be a symptom of a failing battery!
Having read above posts Ive moved the Jump Pack from the boot to the rear door pocket (embarrassing event averted).

Yeh I learnt the hard way to put my jump pack in the main cabin. Maybe nissan should throw one in with every car?
I have had the odd DC to DC converter fault codes to, but no mention of a change. Just the Body control module.
See what happens after 6 weeks of waiting for 1 part.

Sounds like my experience of Wessex. Wessex (staff and their MD), Nissan customer care (UK managing directors 'team') and Nissan execs are all a joke. They don't know how to provide basic customer service. Howards in WsM were equally as bad, if not worse. I've had issues since I've had the car from new (November 2022) and it's been a real battle to get anywhere. My Ariya has been with them since 8th May. Driver's seat lumbar support module has been replaced (due to random inflation). Driver's wing mirror has been replaced (doesn't always fold out) and now they're replacing the window/mirror switch module because the mirror continues to not always fold out. I like the car but will glad when the lease is up.Ric2 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 5:26 pm So spoke to Wessex Nissan this morning… all started well and they were going to call me right back…
