I have recently bought ariya 2023, lookslike oil leak from the sump, when i called nissan they are like this is electric car no oil are you crazy.. until i twisted my question asked them part underneath traction motors, oh that plate sump its come with motors we dont sell anyparts its just 6k without vat replace 12hour....
Keep it short to work around i m planning to remove the sump but the issue i have dont know oil type its pink color more like gear fluid.. i can drain out an put the same oil bck..as its leaking almost two moths i believe almost half liter is leaked..is there way to get the details of oil type an how much is required..??
Note: hint hint there is recall for leak but my sump is damage dent no crack or not broken..which i believe casuse leakin top side....
Any tip would be handy
Ariya sump oil leaking
It does use gear oil according to the manual, although it warns that it must be that specific gear oil, because if other gear oil is used it could lead to premature wear. Also in the Ariya in contrast to the Leaf, oil motor is also used to cool the electric motor and an oil pump is also used so oil motor is more crucial to be adequate on Ariya than on Leaf for example.
I m not able to found any manual on traction motor as its one whole unit as i mention in my main post an picture i posted its traction motor pain an i believe filler cap on too not sure.. as nissan dealer told me no service or oil change on traction motor.. the one you are talking about its gear oil which is left drain cap separately with filler separate on top... also mention in manual..
Traction motor itself needs to be replaced in case of oil leak, according to service manual.Ariya420 wrote: โSat Jun 29, 2024 8:28 pm I m not able to found any manual on traction motor as its one whole unit as i mention in my main post an picture i posted its traction motor pain an i believe filler cap on too not sure.. as nissan dealer told me no service or oil change on traction motor.. the one you are talking about its gear oil which is left drain cap separately with filler separate on top... also mention in manual..
Yeah I understand that, unfortunately Nissan doesn't disclose to customers or dealers which kind of oil does the traction motor use, maybe there's a good reason for that, or not, we don't know.
